Why you can trust the offers

A marketplace is only as good as the buyers in it and the rules they operate under. Here is exactly how ours work, including the parts that constrain us.

Every buyer is a licensed motor dealer

Dealing in used vehicles as a business requires a motor dealer licence in every Australian state and territory. We verify that licence at onboarding and re-check it annually. A licence can be checked, conditioned and revoked by a regulator, which is a form of accountability an anonymous private buyer simply does not have.

We do not buy your car

We are not a buyer wearing a marketplace badge. We have no stock, no yard and no position in your vehicle, which means we have no interest in your offer being low. Dealers pay us when they buy, so a higher offer that you accept is better for us than a lower one that you decline.

Your contact details are not the product

The business model that ruins this category is lead selling: collecting your details and selling them to whoever pays, so you spend a week fielding calls from businesses you never heard of. We do not do that. Dealers see the vehicle, not your phone number, and your details go to one dealer only, after you choose their offer.

To be plain about the part most services leave vague: we may contact you ourselves about a submission, including one you started and did not finish, by text or phone. That is us, not a panel of buyers, it is what you consent to when you submit, and one word from you ends it.

Offers are written and time bound

A number said over the phone is not an offer. Ours name the dealer, state the amount and carry a validity period, so you can compare them properly and decide without pressure. Urgency is a sales technique, not a market condition.

Inspection is honest, not a renegotiation tactic

Every dealer purchase in Australia is subject to a physical inspection, and a reasonable adjustment for genuinely undisclosed damage is fair. What is not fair is a pattern of large reductions on cars that matched their description. We monitor the gap between offer and settlement by dealer, and buyers who systematically rewrite their offers are removed from the platform.

What we will tell you plainly

  • A dealer offer is a wholesale price. It will be below retail, for concrete reasons, and a well run private sale will usually net more if you have the time
  • Not every car attracts five offers, and some attract none
  • We do not accept statutory write offs, motorcycles, caravans, trucks or machinery
  • You are never obliged to accept anything, and declining costs nothing

Your data

We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. Vehicle details are shared with licensed dealers to prepare an offer. Contact details are shared with one dealer, once you choose their offer. You can request access to or deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
